On December 28,1956, brothers Bob and Jack Thornton officially opened their
magnificent Polynesian-themed restaurant and lounge in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The
MAI-KAI, meaning “the finest,” would quickly gain fame as one of the most creative,
elaborate, and authentic establishments in the world of Polynesian culture in the
Americas.
Transporting customers to the South Pacific with indigenous oceanic artifacts
and décor, Bob & Jack presented authentic Polynesian dance, award-winning
cuisine, and of course legendary tropical libations—created by a leading mixologist
of the golden era of tiki cocktails, Mariano Licudine.
Adding to the rich history of the MAI-KAI are its many authentic Polynesian
artifacts, some more than 100 years old. While much of the original collection was
donated to Stanford University and a local Fort Lauderdale museum, many remain
on display today.
On November 18, 2014, the MAI-KAI was officially listed in The National Register
of Historic Places as a heritage establishment “associated with events that have
made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history.”
Included in your visit to the MAI-TAI will be a delicious salad, dinner, soft drink,
dessert, gratuities, taxes and transportation

Step back in time to the roaring 1920’s and prepare for an unforgettable experience at The Speakeasy Murder & Other Acts of Prohibition
in Orlando, FL. The action begins as soon as the doors open. Soak in the lively atmosphere of a New York nightclub, complete with music,
signature cocktails and delicious food. The room buzzes with bootleggers, gangsters, and flappers dancing The Charleston. This isn’t just
any night at the club, when the music stops, someone is going to be murdered, and you’ll be right in the middle of it all,
Colorful characters will be weaving through the audience because this is more than a show, it’s an interactive experience. Each guest can
play detective (or accomplice). Bribes, secrets, and surprises are the currency of the evening, and every twist depends on your votes. Will
the killer be unmasked, or will they get away with murder? In this world of jazz, prohibition, and back-alley deals, nothing is what it seems.
For the next 2 hours, eat, drink, laugh, and solve the crime—but remember, at this notorious speakeasy, someone always ends up
swimming’ with the fishes and someone else is headed to the big house!
We hope you attend in costume and join the fun. Make sure you leave your weapons at the door or you might be mistaken for the
murderer

Trip Advisor names a tour of the Stetson Mansion as one of the “top 10 things to do in Florida.” The 1886
Stetson Mansion is the largest and most spectacular “Gilded Age” residence ever built in Florida before
1900. The Victorians started our modern day traditions like gift giving and Christmas trees, so what’s better
than seeing where it all started? The Stetson Mansion had one of the first trees ever illuminated with electric
lights. That’s what you get when Thomas Edison is your bff! The Stetson Mansion is Florida’s most historic
home, but it is not a museum. It is a private residence that is lived in and welcomes guests this time of year
with over the top elegant and reverent adult holiday decorations. Prior to our tour we will have lunch at
Cook’s buffet.
